SEMICON India 2026 Records Strong Participation
SEMICON India 2026 emerged as a major gathering for the semiconductor sector, with the event recording 51,656 registrations and cumulative footfall of approximately 40,000.
The event was organised under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, reflecting the broader objective of connecting different stages of the semiconductor value chain — from chip design and manufacturing to packaging, equipment, materials and electronics systems.
The participation figures represented an increase in scale compared with the previous edition, with industry participation expanding significantly.
More Than 600 Companies Participate
One of the major highlights of SEMICON India 2026 was the participation of more than 600 exhibitors.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, around 300 of the participating companies were international, underlining the event’s global reach. The previous edition had around 350 companies, according to event coverage.
The exhibition brought together companies working across multiple areas of the semiconductor ecosystem, including manufacturing, advanced packaging, chip design, equipment, materials, research and development.
51,656 Registrations Recorded
The event crossed the 50,000-registration mark, with the final figure reaching 51,656 registrations.
The strong registration numbers reflected interest from industry professionals, executives, students, startups, researchers and other stakeholders connected to India’s semiconductor and electronics sectors.
The event also featured more than 150 speakers, providing a platform for discussions around technology, manufacturing, investment, innovation and talent development.
Global Participation From 52 Countries
SEMICON India 2026 attracted representatives from 52 countries, further expanding its international profile.
The exhibition featured six country pavilions representing Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and Sweden. It also included 12 state pavilions, showcasing investment opportunities and semiconductor-related capabilities across different parts of India.
The international participation provided opportunities for companies and policymakers to explore partnerships, investment opportunities and collaborations across the semiconductor value chain.
Focus on India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem
The event focused on India’s efforts to build a more complete semiconductor ecosystem rather than concentrating solely on chip manufacturing.
The programme covered areas including semiconductor design, fabrication, advanced packaging, materials, equipment, electronics systems, research, startups and workforce development.
A dedicated “Sand to Silicon to Systems” value-chain experience was also showcased, illustrating the different stages involved in the semiconductor ecosystem.
56 MoUs and Strategic Announcements
SEMICON India 2026 also witnessed a significant number of business and institutional announcements.
According to the government, the three-day event resulted in 56 MoUs, announcements and strategic initiatives across areas including semiconductor design, manufacturing, packaging, materials, equipment, research, startups and talent development.
These announcements reflected the growing emphasis on collaboration between companies, research institutions, government bodies and educational organisations.
Major Industry and Technology Developments
Several semiconductor companies used the event to announce new plans and collaborations.
Tata Electronics, for instance, announced multiple strategic MoUs involving semiconductor fabrication, advanced packaging, materials, infrastructure and workforce development. The company highlighted its efforts to strengthen the ecosystem around its semiconductor projects in Gujarat and Assam.
The event also featured developments from Indian chip-design companies and startups, with announcements covering indigenous semiconductor products, design capabilities and commercialisation.
SEMICON India 2026 and India’s Semiconductor Push
SEMICON India 2026 took place shortly after the launch of Semicon 2.0, the next phase of India’s semiconductor programme.
The government has positioned Semicon 2.0 around expanding capabilities not only in chip manufacturing but also in chip design, equipment, materials, advanced packaging, research, talent and supply chains.
The scale of SEMICON India 2026 therefore provided a platform for the government and industry to present ongoing projects, attract potential partnerships and discuss the next phase of India’s semiconductor development.
